Kabo Dog Food Review
Kabo is a subscription-based fresh dog food brand founded in 2019 by twin brothers Vino and Vijay. They are a big part of the ever-changing pet food industry, offering four lightly cooked meals and three types of freshly cooked kibbles that benefit the health and wellbeing of dogs across Canada.
When their beloved dog Kabo fell ill, Vino and Vijay formed this remarkable brand knowing that many canine health issues stem from poor diet and lack of exercise. Together, they found passion creating dog food that would benefit overall health and bring enjoyment to mealtime.
With your canine in mind, they work with in-house pet health experts to formulate healthful meals that focus on proper nutrition to aid your dog throughout all life stages. They advocate for higher health standards in the pet food industry and ensure that their menu options meet AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) standards.

Getting Your Meals
Kabo offers free delivery Canada-wide. And since your meals arrive in insulated packaging with added ice packs, you don't even need to be home to retrieve them.
When placing your order, you can leave special instructions for delivery. So if you reside in a condo and need your meals left with the doorman or prefer a porch drop-off, just specify that when ordering.
Product Quality
Nothing makes me happier than seeing "no artificial flavours or colours" and "no by-product meals" on dog food packaging.
If you've looked at the ingredient list on the back of some well-known dog food brands, you've likely seen ingredients you can't pronounce, you've never heard of, followed by artificial flavours and colours. Unfortunately, many large and well-known dog food manufacturers have a very different idea of what a healthy and well-balanced diet is; they tend to include ingredients that suggest the opposite. I'm happy to say that after extensively reading through Kabo's ingredient list, they are one of the few brands I fully trust to feed and nourish canines. Alongside the top quality of their lightly cooked meals, they offer another healthful and cost-effective option; Kabo kibble.
'Is kibble even good for my dog?'
Lately, kibble has been associated with a poor diet, but that is entirely based on the ingredients used to produce it. Kabo formulates their kibble to exceed industry standards and provide top nutrition to their clients. They work with pet nutritionists to ensure that they supplement all necessary vitamins, minerals, amino acids, probiotics and antioxidants that dogs need and require to stay healthy and active. They do this for all of the meals they produce.
In reality, not all dogs thrive on kibble and on the other hand, not all dogs thrive on raw or lightly cooked. So it's nice to see that Kabo offers two solid options, and whichever one your dog prefers will be a great choice.
Cost
The cost of your order is based on your dog's age, weight and activity level.
For example, Rocky weighs 11lbs, so a standard diet that includes two varieties of Kabo's lightly cooked meals totals $71.96 for two weeks worth of food. A bi-weekly cost of $71.86 works out to $5.13 daily. These prices are in CAD, and taxes are based on the province you reside in. I can tell you from personal experience; this is a great price.

Overall Opinion
Highly Recommended and Reena Approved!
I've always said - I would rather pay more money for healthy dog food than expensive vet bills down the road. When Rocky was on his vet prescribed Science Diet meals, he had no energy, was constantly itching and sneezing, couldn't lose weight, was always bloated, and his stools were rock hard. When he developed Pancreatitis, that brand of food nearly killed him and his vet bills were extensive. Lightly cooked meals saved his life, and he's been thriving ever since.
Due to Rocky's dietary restrictions, he needs a novel protein that's very low in fat to accommodate his Pancreatitis, so, unfortunately, I wasn't able to feed him Kabo meals. However, I offered them to a friend whose dog has gone absolutely nuts for them. Dogs know when they are eating a good quality meal, they just react differently to it. They eat with more enthusiasm and are always overly excited for their next meal; this was absolutely the case with Reena.
This is Reena
Reena has been battling gastrointestinal issues for the past little while. Because she's used to a kibble diet, Reena is being transitioned to Kabo via their Kibble meals, as well as lightly-cooked. She has made great progress with her new diet and we're hoping this is a complete resolve for her. She's an active rescue dog who likely just does better on a good quality diet. More photo's to come!
